Inspection & Testing

HWA's professional staff is complemented with a team of highly qualified and experienced construction inspectors who perform quality control inspection and materials testing services during construction of roadways, pipelines, sewer and waterlines, lift stations, dams, sanitary landfills, buildings, and commercial, industrial, and residential land development projects.

Concrete pourHWA's knowledgeable construction inspectors have a thorough understanding of construction inspection techniques and are capable of implementing materials testing programs to verify that structural fill, Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA), reinforced concrete, and geosynthetics are placed in accordance with the project specifications. In addition, HWA has ICC certified inspectors to provide structural steel erection monitoring, high strength bolting, welding inspection, and masonry inspection. HWA's full service soil and construction materials testing laboratory is accredited by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) R18 for technical competence in the field of construction materials testing.

Typical services related to testing and inspections include:

  • Foundation soils bearing verification
  • Subgrade stabilization with lime or Portland cement
  • Documentation and field testing of structural fill during placement
  • Reinforced concrete and pervious concrete inspection
  • Hot Mix Asphalt and Portland Cement Concrete Pavement sampling and field testing
  • Hot Mix Asphalt and Portland Cement Concrete coring
  • Borrow source evaluations for soil or rock
  • Structural steel inspection, including high strength bolting and welding
  • Masonry inspection
  • Post installed wedge anchors, sleeve anchors and epoxy anchor inspection
  • Wet and dry coating thickness inspection
