- HWA was awarded two 2010 Gold Engineering Excellence Awards by the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Washington. Engineering Excellence is an annual design competition that recognizes engineering achievements that demonstrate the highest degree of merit and ingenuity. The two projects awarded are:
National Award
Gold Award – Water and Wastewater

2009 May
- In conjunction with RCC, HWA held the first annual Tour de Engineers (TdE). On May 9, more than 55 riders came out for the inaugural bike ride around Whidbey Island. Check out the photos of the event riders and safety crew.
2009 March
- The 2009 CEBC (Consulting Engineers of B.C.) Award for Engineering Excellence for Design of the Brightwater Outfall went to Dayton & Knight Ltd. As Geotechnical Engineer of Record for the Design-Build team, HWA conducted a geotechnical investigation to support the design and construction of the marine outfall; which extended in excess of 4,000 feet offshore to a diffuser section approximately 600 feet below sea level. HWA performed extensive seismic evaluations and ultimately developed a design for a seismic anchor restraint that will carry loads exerted on the pipeline by slope failure during an earthquake event. 2009 January
- HWA won a bronze award in Exceeding Client / Owner Needs for the Renton Village Storm System Improvements in Renton at the Engineering Excellence Awards for ACEC WA. City of Renton is the owner and Gray & Osborne was the client.
