Mary Alice Benson, LG
Geologist
Mary Alice has over four years of experience as a licensed geologist in Washington State, performing geotechnical and environmental consulting work on a wide variety of projects. Her experience includes subsurface exploration, environmental soil and groundwater sampling, soil logging and classification, rock core logging, well installation, transducer installation, and slope stability investigation & monitoring.
As Mary Alice began her college career, she took a GEO 101 course following her fascination with the natural world and declared a Geology major halfway through the quarter! Mary Alice graduated with a Master’s in Applied Geosciences from the University of Washington in 2019 and her education gave her a strong focus on sedimentation processes, engineering geology and Puget lowlands geology and geomorphology.
Mary Alice loves working for HWA because of the people and mentorship opportunities, as well as the wide variety of projects that she is involved with which gives her inspiration, as she knows she is a part of improving her community and the lives of her neighbors!
