Fadzila (Dila) Saidin

Senior Geotechnical Engineer, PhD, PE

A practicing engineer with 17 years working experience in the fields of Geotechnical, Geo-Structural and Hydraulic engineering,  Dr. Saidin has been involved in projects that include trenchless technologies, tunnels and shafts, deep underground excavations, complex excavation supports, geotechnical and geo-structural construction engineering, design of mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls, evaluation and design of stacked rock walls, slope stability evaluations, deep and shallow foundations, non-destructive testing and ground improvement.

Design experience includes a flood mitigation system comprising of a diversion channel, weir, regulator, tidal gate, outlet channel, and bridge crossings. Tasks involved preliminary and detail design, preparation of bid documents and operation manual. Dila has also completed the design of the pipeline crossing projects by the horizontal directional drilling (HDD). Skills in numerical analysis include using PLAXIS, Phase2 and FLAC to analyze stresses due to tunnel excavations, braced excavation and multi-level anchored sheet piles. Other software packages include XSTABL, Slope /W, L-Pile, GRL-WEAP, CAPWAP and Shoring Suite. Dila has used HeavyBid in preparing cost estimates for tunnel projects. Construction monitoring experience include the construction of the excavation support system for the Capitol Hill Station of the University Link light rail project and several shoring works for high rise and mixed used projects in downtown Seattle.  Dila has also performed several geotechnical site investigations and laboratory testing, and is the author and co-author of several technical papers.
