Hailey Hoffer
Geologist-In-Training
Hailey grew up in Portland and made their way to Washington where they graduated from Western Washington University (WWU) with their BS in Geology in the spring of 2025. Hailey was inspired to pursue a career in geology after a camping trip with their family where they spent so much time examining all the rocks in the river and wondering what they were and where they came from. Spending hours thinking about this, they realized that they had a gap in knowledge that they wanted to fill and had a genuine curiosity to learn more about the rocks of the world.
Hailey spent two years working as an undergraduate researcher with WWU’s Fluvial Geomorphology Lab, working on project modeling and quantifying surface texture on volcanic gravels, they also spent a summer enjoying field mapping courses in Wyoming and Montana and led field work in Pemberton, BC collecting samples for their senior research project.
