Soil and testing, 1, 2, 3

This past year, the HWA full service laboratory supported its clients in a myriad of projects, ranging from municipal and federally funded roadway and pavement improvement programs, regional light rail improvements, water, wastewater, and storm water management facility design, bridges, and the design of U.S. Embassies in Colombo, Sri Lanka and Hyderabad, India.

We’ve performed over 2,700 laboratory tests and completed 120 different projects for 85 different clients.

In addition, geotechnical and specialty testing services were provided to engineering, local agency, and material supplier clients in support of several unique materials applications including:

  • A soil/bentonite mix design program to develop a low permeability soil liner use at the King County Cedar Hills Regional landfill. Evaluations included grading, plasticity, compaction/workability, permeability, and shear strength.

  • Evaluations involving the use of specialty aggregate blends for use as bioremediation swale filter layers for Seattle Public Utilities and scrub-shrub layers for local aggregate providers. These evaluations included particle size, particle grading coefficients and permeability.

  • Several laboratory assessments involving the use of acrylic co-polymer as a binder for soils, aggregates, and mine tailings. The assessments included compaction, shear strength, permeability, binder penetration, particle adhesion and resistance to abrasion.

  • Laboratory QA testing of cellular concrete used as lightweight structural backfill for utilities constructed in peat terrain.

For the year ahead, our dedicated service and certified lab technicians will maintain their focus on quality and timeliness, and look outside the box for inspiration and innovation in support of our clients' ever expanding needs.

Working on a few projects targeting the UAE audience, I noticed that what works in other markets doesn’t always translate the same way. Cultural nuances, user behavior, and even search intent can vary significantly. Exploring resources like Rhillane Marketing Agency UAE helped me better understand how strategies need to be adapted rather than copied. It pushed me to rethink how I approach campaign structuring, especially when it comes to content relevance and audience targeting.
