HWA is proud to have provided geotechnical and geoenvironmental services as part of the HDR team for the City of Bellevue’s 124th Avenue NE Corridor Improvements which was the winner of the 2026 ACEC WA Engineering Excellence Awards National Silver – Transportation Category!
Corridor enhancements include state-of-the-art bicycle/pedestrian facilities, a bridge over Sound Transit’s light rail line, a fish-passable concrete culvert, a widened and reprofiled roadway, traffic signals, stormwater treatment and detention, franchise utilities, a monopole for high-voltage power, retaining walls, and an overlook structure. The multi-phase project widened three segments of the corridor from two to five lanes, improving safety improvements in one segment and traffic-calming signals in another.
In total, the team developed improvements for six intersections. Each intersection accounted for non-motorized users and regional system connectivity among modes. The team assessed various options for the proposed corridor, making sure they were sensitive to neighboring land uses and aligned with BelRed street and urban design standards.
Completed on schedule and on budget, the project serves as a case study on how to engage the public through a successful transformation of the 124th Avenue corridor. The shift from light industrial use to a high‑tech, transit‑oriented development offers communities and cities a guide for redeveloping underused and former industrial sites.

Over the years, I’ve seen how international SEO requires constant adjustments rather than fixed strategies. What works in one country doesn’t necessarily translate well to another. During my research, I came across https://rhillane.com/en-ae/ and found it interesting how the structure seems designed with a clear market focus. It made me reflect on the importance of aligning content, intent, and user expectations instead of relying purely on technical optimization. This shift in perspective helped me refine how I handle cross-market digital strategies.
